Dogs are social creatures; they love being part of a pack. They’re also quick learners and can adapt to environments all over the world.
Mako the pit bull is a very good boy and a perfect example of both of these things. Just in an unusual kind of way.
When Bethany and Samantha Castiller adopted him from a shelter, they wondered whether the 2-year-old would get along with their cats.
“We initially kept the cats in a separate part of the house because we wanted to slowly introduce them to the new dog,” Bethany told Bored Panda. “He started jumping up on the small tables we had around the house and we thought he was just super excited and full of energy.”
Turns out, Bethany and Samantha had nothing to worry about. Mako was probably already familiar with being around cats. Very familiar. So familiar, in fact, he even thinks he’s one of them!

Like with many rescue pets, you could say it was Mako himself who chose his new family. “When we went to the pet shelter, Mako had looked over his shoulder and gave us direct eye contact and we just fell in love with the little guy,” Bethany said. “At the time, he looked like a bobblehead because his head was so much larger than his body, we just thought he was adorable.”
