On an ordinary day in Ohio, TV newsman Gabe Spiegel was captivated by an extraordinary sight unfolding in his backyard. It was a moment of pure wonder and the miracle of life.
Ruby, a familiar deer known to roam Spiegel’s neighborhood, had found her way to a tranquil grassy patch behind his house. As Spiegel observed, he soon realized that Ruby had a special purpose in mind.
With anticipation building, Spiegel watched in awe as Ruby gave birth to a beautiful baby fawn, right before his eyes.
“It was truly a sight to behold!” Spiegel shared with The Dodo, still amazed by the experience.
However, Ruby had even more surprises in store. As the day unfolded, not one, not two, but three precious fawns were welcomed into the world.
The scene was not only joyous but incredibly rare. It is estimated that only around 2 percent of deer births result in triplets.
Throughout the evening, Ruby and her newborns found solace and rest in the comfort of Spiegel’s backyard. The following morning, they embarked on a new journey together, leaving Spiegel’s property as a joyful family of four.
Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time Ruby had chosen Spiegel’s abode to give birth. Over the past four years, she had previously birthed two other fawns there, whom Spiegel lovingly named Opal and Jade.

Reflecting on the remarkable connection he shared with these beautiful creatures, Spiegel remarked, “They have become regular visitors, and we are thrilled to welcome Ruby’s newest additions, whom we have named Sapphire, Topaz, and Diamond.”
Nature’s miracles continue to unfold, leaving us in awe of the wonders that can be witnessed right in our own backyards.
