The story of our protagonist is the clearest sign that true beauty is found inside and is only waiting to come out. Odin is a dog who was rescued in October 2018 after his owners completely abandoned him and other dogs, leaving him in chains.
When Odin was rescued by Mississippi’s Southern Pines Animal Shelter and Southern Cross Animal Rescue, he was assigned to his adoptive mother Sydney Schelkopf. No one could believe the state in which the poor animal was.
Sydney said the dog looked like something out of a horror story, he looked horrible and his health was even worse.
“He was emaciated, almost hairless, covered in wounds, with cracked and broken teeth and incredibly weak, he had a putrid smell due to his horrible skin infections,” Sydney said.
Fortunately, life had given Odin a second chance. When he first arrived at his new home, the puppy looked confused, it was as if for the first time he had space to move and explore freely.
Little by little, he discovered that this place was safe for him, and that he was there to be loved. Sydney pretended to love him during her recovery, initially the dog came to this home temporarily, but immediately he got into the young woman’s heart until there was no turning back.
She just couldn’t let go anymore, Odin had found his family forever.
“The second night I brought him home, he was brave enough to go to bed with me,” says Sydney. She “she climbed on the bed and threw her bony body at me, looked at me with such sincere eyes and sighed in such a loving embrace. She knew that Odin had finally found where he needed to be.”
Odin’s transformation was not an easy thing; but, fortunately for him, he had someone who loved him and wanted to give him all the support and care , so little by little the poor dog was healing.
It was not an easy thing, he had been through a lot, a lifetime of abuse and abandonment, the poor dog went from living in a place where he was chained to finally having a home.
Gradually, the puppy has been regaining hope and in his physical change you can see his recovery, now he looks completely better ; however, he still needs to undergo medical treatments to improve his health, at the moment he is undergoing treatment to treat the heartworm and, as this improves, he will have to undergo surgery for his teeth.
As long as this puppy is full of love and the desire to move forward, he will achieve everything. At the moment he is very happy despite all the adversities and loves being by his human mother’s side, who fills him with hugs and affection.
